Abstract

This article examines the effectiveness of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) as a methodology for English language instruction at the higher education level. The study analyzes theoretical foundations of CLT, its practical implementation in university classrooms, the challenges faced by both instructors and learners, and measurable outcomes in terms of communicative competence development. Drawing on recent research and classroom practice, the article argues that CLT, when adapted to local educational contexts, significantly enhances students' speaking, listening, and interactive skills compared to traditional grammar-translation approaches. Recommendations are offered for integrating CLT principles into university-level English curricula in non-English-speaking countries.
