Main Article Content
Abstract
This article is about the issues of everyday life of the urban population of Karakalpakstan in the period of beginning of World War II. Particular attention is paid to the living conditions of the residents of the city of Nukus - the capital of the republic, where on the eve of the war the republican management and management bodies moved. The construction of the city continued, which led to the rapid growth of the city's population on the eve of the war. An analysis of archival documents and materials shows that during the Second World War, there were serious changes in the daily life of all segments of the population. It is indicated that the beginning of the Second World War brought new rules of life and work to the life of the townspeople. Labor discipline has intensified, there have been changes in the provision of food to the cities, and the time for rest and leisure of citizens has been reduced. The harsh everyday life of the war has influenced both the consciousness of people and their patriotic mood. Because of the difficult military situation, there was a reduction in food and industrial state funds, which affected the provision of citizens with goods of mass demand.
