SEASONAL DISEASES: EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PATTERNS, PREVENTION AND THE ROLE OF MODERN CLINICAL PRACTICE

Seasonal diseases represent an important public health problem because their incidence is closely associated with changes in environmental conditions, human behavior, social activity and the biological characteristics of infectious agents. The frequency of many respiratory, gastrointestinal, vector-borne and some non-infectious diseases increases during particular seasons of the year. Understanding the seasonal distribution of diseases is therefore important for medical students and future physicians involved in diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The purpose of this article is to analyze the theoretical foundations of seasonal disease occurrence, identify the main environmental and social factors contributing to seasonal morbidity, and describe effective approaches to prevention. Particular attention is given to respiratory infections, influenza-like illnesses, acute respiratory viral infections, gastrointestinal infections, allergic diseases, heat-related disorders and vector-borne diseases. The article also discusses individual, community-based and healthcare-level preventive measures.
