L'article est consacré à l'une des directions importantes de la catégorie communicative de but, le discours rapporté et son mode d'utilisation en langue française. L'attention y est principalement portée sur les caractéristiques textuelles du discours cité (le discours direct). En même temps, les caractéristiques sémantiques fonctionnelles d'autres types de discours en français sont expliquées.
