ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE: CAUSES, GLOBAL HEALTH IMPACTS, AND FUTURE STRATEGIES FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT

Antibiotic resistance is one of the most serious challenges facing modern healthcare. Incorrect and uncontrolled use of antibiotics, failure to complete the full course of treatment, self-medication, and excessive use of antibiotics in medicine and animal farming contribute to the development of resistant bacteria. As a result, common infections become more difficult to treat, hospital stays become longer, treatment costs increase, and the risk of severe complications rises. This article discusses the main causes of antibiotic resistance and its impact on human health and the global healthcare system. It also describes important future approaches, including the rational use of antibiotics, prevention of infections, development of new antibacterial drugs, vaccination, and alternative treatment methods. Effective control of antibiotic resistance requires close cooperation between healthcare professionals, patients, and health organizations.
