Ushbu maqolada epilepsiyaning kelib chiqish sabablari va patogenez mexanizmi ilmiy manbalar asosida tahlil qilindi. Epilepsiyaning irsiy, travmatik, infeksion, metabolik va toksik omillari ko‘rib chiqildi. Shuningdek, neyronlarning giperqo‘zg‘aluvchanligi, neyromediatorlar muvozanatining buzilishi va epileptogen o‘choqlar shakllanishi orqali tutqanoqlar yuzaga kelishi tushuntirildi. Maqola klinik ko‘rinishlari, tutqanoqlar turlari hamda bemorlarga tavsiya etiladigan profilaktik va davolash choralari haqida xulosalar berdi.
