The gas industry is one of the main sectors of the global economy, but its future is not so easy to predict. The article examines the state of the gas sector of Uzbekistan in the middle of the XIX century and the prospects for the development of the industry, the gas field in the Bukhara region was noted and the history of the development of the oil and gas industry located in the territory of the Bukhara region is analyzed.
