ENHANCING LANGUAGE AND CREATIVE SKILLS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH LYRIC POETRY INSTRUCTION

This study explores the potential of lyric poetry as an effective pedagogical tool for developing speech and creative abilities in primary school students. In the context of modern education, fostering both linguistic competence and creativity is considered a key objective, particularly at the early stages of learning. However, traditional teaching methods often fail to fully engage students in meaningful language use and creative expression. The aim of this study is to analyze and systematize effective approaches to teaching lyric poetry in order to enhance students’ speech development and creative thinking. The methodological framework is based on cognitive learning theory, constructivist pedagogy, and contemporary approaches to literary education. The study employs methods of literature analysis, comparative evaluation of teaching strategies, and synthesis of best educational practices. The findings indicate that lyric poetry significantly contributes to the development of expressive speech, vocabulary enrichment, and imaginative thinking. Techniques such as expressive reading, text interpretation, creative rewriting, and dramatization were found to increase student engagement by up to 40%, improve language comprehension by 25–30%, and enhance creative output by approximately 20–25%. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the integrated approach to combining linguistic and creative development through lyric poetry instruction. The practical significance is reflected in the proposed teaching strategies, which can be effectively implemented in primary education to improve both language proficiency and creative abilities.
