Abstract

This article examines the theoretical foundations of military abbreviations in English, considering their historical development, structural typology, and socio-linguistic significance. The study applies descriptive and comparative linguistic methods to analyze abbreviations as a sub-system of word formation. Results indicate that abbreviations in military discourse serve as efficient, standardized, and socially embedded tools of communication, reflecting both linguistic economy and extralinguistic pressures such as war, technology, and globalization.
